For 26 years, this two-story mansion and its gardens were part of the official residence of Chiang Kai-shek and his wife Soong Mei-ling. There are over 100 species of 1000 roses in the garden. Beside the rose garden, there are western, Chinese, ecological, and herb gardens, giving such a variety to enjoy! With the different seasons, flower exhibitions are offered, such as tulips and chrysanthemum.

Today the entire estate is a lovely public park and even the house itself is open, though it merely displays the rather humdrum domestic life, and middlebrow tastes, of the Chiangs. The free audio guide is more than a little obsequious about the house’s master and mistress.

It’s essentially a large manicured & impressive garden. One of the MRT lines will take you here & it is a stop or two away from the Shilin Night Market. So you can work up an appetite walking around here, then follow it with a visit to the night market.

How to go: 
1.By MRT: 
Take MRT to Shilin MRT Station, exit number 2 and turn left onto Zhongshan North Rd to reach the residence.
2.By Bus: 
Take bus route 220, 304, 260, 255 to Taibei High School stop, walk 5 mins to reach Shilin Official Residence.
3.By Car:
National Highway No.1, exit Taipei offramp towards Chongching North Rd, turn to Minzu West Rd and turn on to Zhongshan North Rd to reach the residence.
