Established by  Changchun Paper Co. founder Chen Su-ho, Su Ho Paper Museum is a museum for people to remember the profile of Chinese paper-making traditions of China. Chen began planning the Su Ho Memorial Paper Museum, which opened five years later in October 1995. Since then, Suho Memorial Paper Museum became the one and only paper museum in Taiwan.

Understanding that the vitality of a museum depends on it’s inter- action with visitors, Chen has created lively exhibitions and activities that encourage visitor’s participation all with the aim of fully realizing the Museum’s mission to educate and enlighten. By collecting and classifying Taiwanese paper artifacts system- atically, Chen hopes to make the Museum a paper museum that reflects the unique history and culture of Taiwan.

There are 4 floors with an area of 529 square meters; it is a traditional narrow and long street house space. Fulfilling the lifelong dream of Taiwanese paper-maker Chen Su Ho, this stylish four-storey museum displays a working traditional paper mill and temporary exhibits (with a focus on paper sculpture and installation art), as well as good overviews of paper making around the world and in Taiwan. In addition to paper displays, the museum has a demonstration handmade paper factory and offers classes on papermaking.

For a DIY experience, join the daily paper-making classes at 10am, 11am, 2pm and 3pm. Visitors can also pick up a variety of fine handmade paper items at the museum gift shop. At the museum shop you can purchase cards, posters and other elegant designs constructed from handmade paper. And before you leave the building, check out the bathrooms; you’ll never feel so grateful to be alive in modern times.
