Smangus

Smangus, a tribal village in Jianshi Township, Hsinchu County, sits at around 1,500 meters elevation. When cold fronts sweep in, snow can fall here too. At the beginning of 2024, snow returned to Jianshi after three years, delighting residents who built tiny snowmen on the roads. The village’s iconic Atayal wood carvings were blanketed in snow, creating a fairy tale-like scene that looked absolutely adorable.

Dasyueshan

Located in Heping District, Taichung, Dasyueshan National Forest Recreation Area sits on the western ridge of the Xueshan Range at over 2,000 meters elevation.
