In the bustling night of Taipei, the vibrant energy seems endless. However, beyond the lively nightlife, hidden gems are offering a peaceful retreat for those in need of a moment of tranquility. These late-night cafés provide a cozy and quiet space for night owls working or studying. Today, we’re introducing one such spot – Yiri Café. In this place, you feel like you’ve stepped out of noisy Taipei and into a different world. Here, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a cocktail, while soaking in the peaceful and leisurely atmosphere.
Location of Yiri Café
Located in Dongmen, Yiri Café sits on Chaozhou Street, a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of Yongkang Street, yet still within the broader Yongkang shopping district. This quieter spot makes Yiri particularly serene. Even before it opens at 1 PM, you’ll often find people eagerly lining up outside. The café features red brick walls and warm yellow lighting, creating a distinct retro Japanese Showa-era vibe.

Yiri Café
Address: No. 176, Chaozhou St., Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan
Opening hours: Daily 1:00 PM – 1:00 AM

Though Yiri is a café, it has a laid-back, vintage tavern-like feel. Opening the door feels like stepping into a different time. Inside, there’s a bar area, two-person and four-person seating options, as well as cozy nooks perfect for solo work. Though there may be the occasional chatter from students, the overall atmosphere remains quiet, making it a great spot for studying.
Yiri Café Menu

Yiri Café doesn’t have a printed menu. All items are written on a chalkboard by the counter, where you place your order. Unlike other late-night cafés that serve food, Yiri primarily offers beverages despite its extended hours, from 1 PM to 1 AM. Whether you need a coffee pick-me-up or craving a cocktail, Yiri Café has something for everyone. Initially, they didn’t serve any desserts, but now they offer options like Japanese-style pudding and Basque cheesecake. Although they don’t serve full meals, these treats are enough to satisfy small cravings. Prices at Yiri are slightly on the higher side, but with a minimum order of just one drink, free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and no time limits, it’s quite the bargain!
Recommended Cocktails at Yiri Café

Since it’s a late-night café, there’s no shortage of alcoholic drinks! Yiri Café offers a variety of coffee, milk, and chocolate-based beverages with the option to add alcohol. In addition to classics like Baileys, rum, and whiskey, they even have more unique offerings like plum wine and iced Americano. If you enjoy trying new things, don’t miss out! For those who prefer to skip coffee in the evening, the whiskey chocolate drink is also worth a try. It’s not too sweet, with a pronounced whiskey flavor that pairs smoothly with the chocolate, making for a delightful treat.
Recommended Desserts at Yiri Café

Although the dessert selection at Yiri Café is limited, each item is carefully crafted and full of charm. The most popular option is their caramel pudding, a must-try. The pudding has a firmer Japanese-style texture, with a rich and creamy flavor that bursts with fragrance the moment you take a bite. The caramel sauce strikes the perfect balance of sweetness with a hint of bitterness, adding depth to the overall taste. Paired with a touch of whipped cream, each bite is a smooth, indulgent experience—an ideal treat for those late-night cravings.
