The Hukou Service Area is divided into two sections, serving both northbound and southbound travelers. 姜阿新洋樓 Jiang Ah-Xin Mansion

Built in 1946, “Jiang Ah-Xin Mansion” was originally a guest house for tea business VIPs and is renowned for its blend of Chinese, Western, and Japanese architectural styles. It also served as inspiration and a filming location for the Taiwanese drama Gold Leaf. Open only on weekends, the entrance fee is NT$100 for adults and NT$50 for children. Inside, you can marvel at its classical architectural techniques, such as archways and bay windows, along with intricate wall carvings and plasterwork. It’s highly recommended to book a guided tour to fully appreciate the mansion’s design and history.

小叮噹滑雪場 Little Ding-Dong Ski Field

Skiing in Taiwan? It’s not a dream! The “Little Ding-Dong Ski Field” is the largest indoor ski field in Taiwan, with artificial snow and a year-round temperature of -3 to -7°C, allowing visitors to ski any time of the year. They offer rental services for cold-weather gear, skis, and snowboards, as well as beginner skiing lessons, including snowboarding (SB) and skiing (SKI). Established in 1934, “OR House” was Hsinchu’s first department store, famous for selling imported Japanese goods, making it a fashionable hotspot back in the day. After being closed for 20 years, it was taken over by the “OR” team, who transformed it into a “city living room,” welcoming everyone to visit. The building is divided into four floors featuring a gastropub, select shops, and an urban terrace, blending old and new to recreate Hsinchu’s former glory.
