The pancakes are handmade, giving them a fresh flour aroma and chewy texture. The freshly fried pancakes are crispy and fluffy. On the counter, you’ll find a variety of condiments and toppings like ketchup, spicy soy sauce, garlic paste, and shredded cucumber. 新發小吃部(拇指麵)Xinfa Street Noodle
When it comes to well-known noodle shops in Penghu, “Xinfa Street Noodle” is one of the first that comes to mind. They serve assorted noodles, vermicelli, winter noodles, and sticky rice dumplings. The broth is made with squid, thin slices of pork, shrimp, and fried shallots, resulting in a light and sweet taste. Locals often refer to it as “Thumb Noodles” because when the owner serves the noodles, his thumb would dip into the soup, or because the portions are so generous that the thumb could easily get submerged in the soup.

石泉牛雜湯 Shiquan Beef Soup
A hidden gem known mainly to locals, “Shiquan Beef Soup” operates from early morning until 1 PM. Besides beef offal soup and noodles, they offer a wide range of breakfast options like omelets, pork buns, fried noodles, leek pies, radish cakes, French toast, minced pork rice, and hot pot noodles. The beef offal soup has a milky white broth with a light and sweet flavor. Inside, you’ll find tender slices of beef shank and honeycomb tripe—try it with the special chili sauce for the ultimate Penghu breakfast experience.

三哥酒釀雞排 Sange Fermented Rice Chicken Cutlet
Beloved by both locals and tourists, “Sange Fermented Rice Chicken Cutlet” is made from fresh chicken and marinated with a secret recipe. The freshly fried cutlet has an incredibly crispy exterior, and each bite releases a burst of fermented rice aroma with juicy tenderness. Another popular dish is their signature meat skewer, which is dense and flavorful without as strong of a fermented rice scent as the chicken. 瑞師父海菜煎餅 Seaweed Pancake
Seaweed is a specialty of Penghu, known for its unique flavor and high nutritional value. “Rui Shifu Seaweed Pancake,” described as a “seaweed-flavored green onion pancake,” is made by mixing flour and seaweed into a pancake that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The seaweed flavor is strong, and it doesn’t need any sauce to be delicious! Besides their signature seaweed pancake, they also offer crispy small squid heads, scallops, and squid noodles—definitely worth a try.

乾益堂中藥行 Qian Yi Tang Herbal Shop
Why mention a herbal shop in a list of Penghu foods? Because “Qian Yi Tang Herbal Shop,” a century-old business run by four generations, offers herbal eggs and herbal tofu that are a must-buy for visitors. The herbal eggs and tofu are delicately infused with a mild herbal aroma, tasting slightly sweet and refreshing. Notably, Qian Yi Tang is a registered historical site in Penghu County. Another historical site, Siyan Well, is located right in front—perfect for a stroll and a snack.

“Zhong’s Clay Oven Roll is a well-known breakfast spot in Penghu, famous for its handmade crispy pastries. The shop offers a wide variety of fillings, including ham, bacon, kimchi, tuna, scallion eggs with dried scallops, Thai chicken legs, and more.
