苑裡出水沙灘 Yuanli Chushui Beach

A few years ago, a large amount of green algae appeared on the intertidal zone along the coast, giving it a matcha-like appearance. This phenomenon made the beach famous, attracting many visitors. The green algae usually appear from March to May, so if you visit Yuanli during this time, don’t miss the lush green “matcha coast.” Even if you see outside of the algae season, you can still enjoy the beach, play in the water, and walk along the shore.

崎頂子母隧道 Qiding Twin Tunnels

Another popular photo spot is the Qiding Twin Tunnels in Zhunan, Miaoli. Walking through the tunnels feels like stepping into a scene from “Spirited Away.” The dense surrounding forest adds a touch of mystery. Nearby, Qiding Station features a staircase resembling the one where the protagonists of “Your Name” meet. Fans of these Japanese animated films should visit!

綠意山莊 Lush Green Mountain Villa

The expansive grounds of Lush Green Mountain Villa offer various photo spots, such as Hobbiton, European villages, and a Torii shrine. There are also several restaurants, including Grasswood Dining Hall and Hobbit Kitchen, where you can take a break. The villa provides accommodation and camping options, making it a great place to stay if you want more time to explore.

竹南啤酒廠 Zhunan Brewery

Located in the Zhunan Industrial Zone, Zhunan Brewery is known for its large beer installations and murals. On sunny days, it’s a great spot for photos. After taking pictures outside, you can tour the brewery, where they offer beer tastings and sales. Don’t forget to take a couple of bottles home!

沐暉苑食 Muhuayuan Dining

The recently opened Leevan Pâtisserie is located on Yuanli Street, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. On sunny days, you can enjoy your desserts outside. 垂坤食品 旗艦店 Chuikun Foods Flagship Store

After exploring and eating, visit Chuikun Foods Flagship Store near the Yuanli Interchange to buy some snacks and jerky. The store offers a wide variety of high-value foods, with nostalgic snacks and cookies being particularly popular. The store is often crowded on holidays. If you visit Miaoli Yuanli, don’t forget to pick up some treats.
