One of the most popular queued delicacies at Shilin Night Market is “Xiaolu Plum Blossom Cake,” located in front of the 7-11 at 1 Jīhé Road. The owner brought the plum blossom cake-making technique from Nanjing, China, to Taiwan. Currently, they offer two flavors: classic red bean and signature taro, each priced at NT$50. The batter is crispy and chewy, topped with mini rice balls, nuts, red dates, and corn kernels. It’s visually appealing and tasty with a crispy exterior and sweet but not overwhelming interior.

Zhongjia Original Shanghai Pan-Fried Buns 鍾家原上海生煎包

Awarded the Taipei Michelin Bib Gourmand, “Zhongjia Original Shanghai Pan-Fried Buns” offers two simple items: fresh meat buns and cabbage buns. The fresh meat buns are made with plum pork and green onions, which are juicy and flavorful without any sauce. The cabbage buns use high-mountain cabbage from Lishan and vermicelli, giving a sweet and crisp texture. This classic taste has remained unchanged, and it has been beloved by locals for years.
